Now is Always delves into photography’s profound and intricate relationship with time. Inspired in part by Greg Battye’s Photography, Narrative, Time: Imaging Our Forensic Imagination, the exhibition examines how photography stretches and compresses time in ways that feel effortless — until we pause to consider the moments leading up to and trailing away from the so-called “decisive moment.” This interplay of expanding and contracting time also opens the door to explore the transcendent qualities of photography’s temporal nature.
Featuring a range of photo-based works, from portraiture to landscapes and everything in between, Now is Always highlights the all-encompassing connection between photography and time, inviting viewers to reflect on the layered narratives that unfold within each frame.
