2022 American Photography 38
From over 7,000 entries, the jury SELECTED 405 images by a majority vote or better to appear in the book and represent the best pictures from 2021. The American Photography 38 winning collection with over 268 of the industry's best photographers and CBU Photography’s David Ardill being one of them, will be presented in print, online, and in-person this November for maximum visibility, prestige, and all-out bragging rights.
Additionally, students Raymond Alva, Alicia Berardelli, Caleb Ericksen, and David Fouts were amongst 348 images that were CHOSEN by having received at least 2 votes from the jury and are, therefore, eligible to appear permanently online in The ARCHIVE – AI-AP’s exclusive online juried collection, where over time photographers can build an online portfolio of their AP winning images and where creatives can search and make direct contact with them.
The ARCHIVE will launch in November immediately after The Party set (with high hopes) for November 10, 2022. This is there annual launch event in New York City that celebrates the winners.
A SLIDE SHOW winners announcement showcasing your chosen image will be sent to their member list of 30,000 creative professionals in May. And over the next year chosen images will be posted on their Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter pages with over 100,000 followers, so please follow and like them.

The AI-AP juried award annuals, offering high visibility and well-deserved recognition where it matters most, are still published in all their large-format, luxurious, hardcover glory, staying true to their founding principles of celebrating great photographers and illustrators, lavishly showcasing commissioned and personal work that's ahead of its time, while honoring the publications, creatives, and agencies responsible for assigning and utilizing the winning images. Students and schools are also celebrated right alongside established and emerging artists.
Founded in 1982 by a committee of esteemed illustrators and art directors, AI-AP was created as a direct alternative to other leading organizations and companies of the day who it was thought were not recognizing unconventional, "cutting-edge" work that was being produced by unheralded artists who were pushing the boundaries of commercial work. See history here.
The acclaimed AI-AP books, objects of beauty, and debate, published annually in November, are the first and foremost go-to resources for art directors, designers, photo editors, and art buyers who insist on assigning only the best original, thoughtful and compelling pictures.
