Norrisa Spagner
“Threads of Resilience” focuses on the journey of personal identity, adaptation, and resilience undertaken by individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds who have relocated to the United States. Through a series of interviews and portraits, Spagner had the privilege to engage with various participants from different areas of the world. This project captures the narratives of these individuals as they reflect on their encounters and challenges with cultural diversity since moving to the US. Each participant’s photos showcase the emotions they’ve experienced as they’ve integrated into American culture; each person also brings an item that connects them to their home culture. Spagner aspires to create a platform for meaningful engagement among individuals from different cultural backgrounds and to facilitate a space where diverse voices can be heard and affirmed. By encouraging empathy and dialogue, this project seeks to break through cultural barriers and forge connections that celebrate all individuals' inherent humanity and dignity, regardless of their background or origin.
