“Quiet Ice-Melt” is an immersive documentary and portrait-based project that delves into the culture of the community living in Big Bear, CA. Beyond its reputation as a mere resort destination for tourists, Big Bear is a cherished home for its residents, each with an individual story to tell about their experience on the mountain. Through a blend of composed portraits and natural landscapes, these photographs capture the essence of this mountain community post-COVID, amid environmental and political challenges. This project serves as an archive of contemporary existence, exploring the stories of fringe and active community members. This body of work is currently ongoing and will grow and evolve alongside the community it explores. The series offers a timeless reflection on human connection and resilience, inviting viewers to find parallels with their own experiences. “Quiet Ice-Melt” is more than just a photography series—it's a journey into the soul of a community, leaving a lasting impression on all who engage with it.
