In, Take Me Seriously, Chloe Daniels aims to showcase young artists who face struggles such as age, gender, or medium.

Daniels photographed artists ages 17 to 28 working in spaces that range from their parent’s garage to a professional shop. Since these artists are young, many of them cannot afford to work in a professional space and have to make do with what they have. This highlights the ability of these artists to cobble together the materials and spaces to be able to do what they need to do to make the art that they want. Many people outside of the creative sphere do not take these artists seriously in their work. Whether it’s parents, friends, or people they don’t even know, these artists are having to struggle to be seen as someone who has worked hard to get to where they’re at and are successful at what they do. Success is often measured by a job title or the amount of money made by someone, but artists have to set those ideas aside to pursue their passions. It’s hard for these creatives to keep pursuing their goals when they might not have much to show for it or have people who are telling them that they can’t do it. Daniels’ goal is to show the audience the importance of these artists and how they deserve to be seen and their work taken seriously.
