Jennifer Ramon
For this project, Jennifer Ramon photographed the people within the church she grew up in. This project consists of environmental portraits, landscapes, and candid moments of fellow church members.
After photographing them, she also asked if they were willing to write down any experiences they had about their faith in a notebook. This prompt was a way for her to grow a relationship with them that is more intimate than a hello/goodbye on a Sunday morning. She thinks the writings are very special and can give someone the opportunity to get to know another a little bit better. It takes time to sit down with your thoughts and put them into writings, which is why time is not rushed in this project. Her hope is this gave the writer time to search for the right words to describe anything they may have wanted to share with the viewer.
Alongside these portraits, she attempted to photograph the exterior and interior of her church. This will continue to be an ongoing series.
