University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Keynote Speaker Ana Teresa Fernandez, Mario Ontiveros
Conflux:
From Many, To Many
Taking its name from the meeting of two rivers, the theme of the 2018 West/Southwest is based on the notion of meeting, exchanging, and transforming. It is based on the transformative power of conversation.
From the keynote dialogue with Ana Teresa Fernandez and Mario Ontiveros to the many opportunities for sharing, Conflux is a conference of member-initiated creative conversations, hands-on collaborative projects, roundtable discussions, demonstrations, member's exhibition, artistic feedback and cultural site visits which pivot around photographic practice and contemporary culture.
Proposals are now being acepted via google forms (deadline has been extended to May 1st, 11:59 PM).
Anyone can submit a proposal! Open to non-members, other chapter members, etc.!
If your ideas for a proposal doesn't fit a category (longer time, format doesn't quite match, etc.) It's not a problem. Just pick the closest category and give us the specifics and we'll do our best to accomadate. We're interested in your great ideas. The categories are just guidleines.
- We are accepting proposals in 4 categories:
- Roundtable discussion
- Collaborative making
- Demonstrations
- Imagemaker/Scholar Presentation
In addition it is possible to propose a session using the University of New Mexico's Art Museum Print Collection viewing room. This will take quite a bit of coordination with the museum staff, but opens up the possibility of doing a presentation with original works of photographic art drawn from the permanent collection. Information about the photographic collection can be found here. A session would be held in the Beaumont Newhall Study Room. Information about this resource can be found here. Please email us in order to apply to host a session.
If you have an idea for a session that doesn't fit into one of those categories, we would love to hear about it. Please contact us and we will advise you about how to apply.
Everyone, even non-members, is encouraged to apply, but you must show proof of membership when submitting the contract for accepted proposals.
Thank you! We look forward to seeing you in Albuquerque in November!
