Jenna Beekhuis explores fashion as a fingerprint: exploring how trends and styles can reflect identity. Turning fashion editorial photography on its head, Jenna gives a stereotypically stuffy medium a new context. Rather than celebrities and iconic brands, this project relies on individuals' compelling lives. Serving as profiles on one-of-a-kind subjects, her environmental portraiture depicts subjects in their own space and looks at how their spaces inform their identity in obvious and subtle ways. Bringing tangible stories to life by making ordinary characters “larger than life,” the portraits swap perfection for the endearing feeling of “fashion next door.”
