Park Avenue, by Jailyn Patrick, emphasizes a mix of documentary and social practice. It portrays the rich history and culture that exists in a small, blue-collar community on the Eastside of Riverside, California. Focusing on small businesses. community, and culture, this project is a story told by the subjects - the people of Park Avenue. Her process included visits to Park Avenue multiple times per week and collaborating with Juan Navarro and other artists from Eastside Arthouse.

Juan Navarro is currently the Artist-In-Residence at Riverside Art Museum as a social practice artist. Through partnering with local community groups. Juan has produced more than eight public artworks on and around Park Avenue informed by the people. He felt that opening an art studio. Eastside Arthouse was appropriate because of the symbiotic relationship between himself and the community. His art studio is a love letter to the Eastside neighborhood.

Juan served not only as a translator for Jailyn. but also was able to bridge a social. linguistic. and cultural gaps that existed between the people of Park Avenue and herself. Due to his ample time spent in commitment to this community, trust was developed which in turn, allowed the people to feel they could also entrust to her, their stories and livelihoods.
