Alicia Berardelli
Alicia Berardelli was inspired by candidly photographing skaters at the iconic Venice Beach skate park. To then approach the cast of the characters present and to arrange a photoshoot of them during individual skate sessions in the streets of LA. Showcasing how each skater interacts with the environment in a more dynamic and unpredictable space. Throughout this body of work, an emphasis is made on light and shadow play, shown through creative composition and placement of the subjects in pockets of light with the use of impermanent shadows hinting at the fluid and ever-changing aspect of skateboarding. Each shoot shows the individuality of the skater through their clothing choices as well as a variety of shots that include tricks, transitions, and portraits.
