Skye Regan is a Christian documentary photographer originally from Lake Arrowhead, California.  Her work focuses on matters such as nature preservation, cultural diversity, and studies of the human character.

#Christianity is a short study of common misconceptions of what it means to be Christian in a modern, globalized world. The purpose of the project is to gain insight into the way that popular culture merges itself into Christian culture, and to dissect the two to gain a better idea of what the Bible says being a Christian is about. The work falls under the emphasis of documentative and socially engaged photography.

Through the use of found and made imagery were utilized to effectively reveal the juxtaposition between common misperceptions of Christianity and the reality of the faith, a way of capturing what those perceptions in fact are by using found imagery from social media searches.  For the contrasting images that were to reflect the Bible’s stance on these subjects, she chose to capture moments in the world around us. Doing so in a documentative manner, by looking for the things in the world that were embedded with meaning. This was done in a close and personal manner, to reflect the close and personal nature of God.

Choosing  to leave the found imagery in color, and to do the created juxtapositions in black and white. This was to reflect the idea that simple stereotypes are often much easier to hold on to. They can be more attractive than reality, because they are easier to understand than the grey tones of the real world. In contrast, reality is often much more complicated than that, and the achromatic tones reveal the starkness and the seriousness of the subject.
